Bienvenue à la rentrée !

Allo et bienvenue à la rentrée !

Hello Archway Arete families, and welcome back to school for a brand-new year of lessons, games, and growth in the French language! My name is Rémy Gaudin, and I’ll be entering my second year in the K-1 French program here at Arete this year. I return to the job this fall with thirteen years of French experience under my belt, having begun my study in Kindergarten, and pursuing French through my middle school, high school, and college career. With my experience in reading, writing, and translating, I am excited to continue to put our scholars on the path towards speaking two (or more) languages. Many hard hours went into streamlining and improving our curriculum this summer, and I feel confident and ready to deliver!
Firstly, I would like to extend an especial welcome to those families who are new to the network—whether your child is this year entering Kindergarten or you are joining us in 1st grade, my goal this year lies in building a strong and consistent community of Francophones, and I aim to see that all my students share in the necessary skills. And to my returning families, I’m overjoyed to see you again, and to pick up where we have left off in our studies!
This blog will be your first resource for our K-1 French curriculum and study materials, and I invite you to subscribe and make use of any and all materials on it. In the coming weeks, I plan to beef up our video review section, and to update and refresh our text resources. With that, I will also be publishing an updated curriculum list for Kindergarten and 1st Grade. Please do review those documents, which will live on the left sidebar, and do not hesitate to email me if you should have any questions. You can reach me either through rgaudin@archwayarete.org or rgaudinarete@gmail.com, and I will make my best effort to respond within two business days.
To my new families in 1st Grade: if you have not yet gotten your hands on the “Les Loustics” workbook and CD bundle, please do so as soon as possible. I aim to begin the program within our first few weeks together, and I find that students perform at their best when they have their own materials. “Les Loustics” may be purchased from Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and several other online retailers (I have provided three links below, the first of which offers the best price for the book and CD combo). If for any reason you are unable to provide your child with a copy, please contact me by email and I will offer what help I can.

Thank you for reading along, and I have high hopes of making this year a successful and engaging one for all our students! Merci, et j’espère que vous vous joindrez à moi pour faire cette année une grande année pour nos élèves !
