We approach this vast body of work through games, music, stories, and arts activities, chosen for their cultural enrichment and the love and interest they bring to the French language. As the year draws on, I will post links to many of these resources on this blog, and will be updating a master list of our online French materials.

Built into these lessons are a series of songs and artistic content to give greater depth to the course. These also help provide cultural enrichment and foster good memorization habits and a love for the language. Les Loustics also offers a workbook, with manipulatives and audio content. This provides a hands-on approach to French which makes the language accessible to all learners, and transforms it into a real, living thing. We will turn to it often for work in our classrooms, and continue with it into the 2nd Grade year and onward.

Students will be graded on classwork, participation, quizzes, and short tests, all of which will be administered in class. I rarely assign homework, but I do find it useful for students to review vocabulary as frequently as time permits.
